Yearlong Electives Announcement

Good morning, 7th grade Coyotes!

Do you like taking photos and videos? Are you into design? How about reporting on news & events? 

Are you animated, creative, hard-working? Do you enjoy a lot of attention? What about eating doughnuts and pizza?

Are you interested in promoting school spirit, planning fun activities, volunteering for the community AND learning valuable leadership skills?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should come apply for a spot on our TRACKS Yearbook Staff, our CNN Broadcasting team, or our Leadership staff!

Pick up an application from the office today.


Completed application packets are due by Friday, March 13, so don’t wait!


March Attendance Madness: We are in week two of our March Attendance Madness!!  Last week we had 8 Homerooms with a 90% or above attendance rate! They are…..Porter, Contreras, BeziChai, Routh, Yasuda, Merry/Hutch, Haddock, and Guerra! That is so amazing - keep it up this week!   Remember every homeroom will be competing for a fun prize! The competition will last 4 weeks and the homeroom with the highest attendance percentage at the end of each week will advance to the next round.  Please be sure to be in attendance and on time this month so your homeroom advances.  Everyone needs to do their part to ensure their homeroom team advances!! However, if you have a fever and are ill please don’t come to school.  Coming to school sick could wipe out your whole home room if you get everyone else sick! Good luck Coyotes!

Intramural Basketball:  Hey Coyotes, Intramural basketball starts this Tuesday.  Mr. Kuramata and Mrs. Gossage are excited to be your coaches and help sharpen your basketball skills.  Please meet your coaches by the locker rooms after school quickly so you can get started right away.   

Pennies for Patients: Pennies for Patients donations are still being collected so bring in all your extra change.


8th Grade:  Future RCHS students -- 8th grade parent night is this Thursday, March 5th starting at 6:30 in the Rancho High gym.  There is also an Honors presentation in the auditorium from 5:30 - 6:15pm.

Congratulations to all students that have received high honor roll for both 1st and 2nd trimesters with good citizenship and attendance!  You are eligible for the Knott's Berry Farm field trip! Homeroom teachers have permission slips, and the due date for permission slips and donation is Friday, March 13th.  Please turn in your permission slip and donation to the office before or after school, or during homeroom. C.J.S.F: Applications will be available this FRIDAY. They will be due on March 5th to your Language Arts teacher by 2:30 pm. 

8th Grade: 8th grade points have started. If you did not turn in your points letter, you still need to do this! 

Library Event: 10 African American Inventors who Changed the World- Discuss the inventions and how it currently affects our lives. Join Mrs. Choi on Friday and with your participation, earn some PBIS points for responsibility.

Annie Jr.: Tickets for the cast and crew go on sale Tuesday at 3:00 pm in the MPR. 


RCHS: 8th grade students who have already turned in a permission slip will attend the rally on Wednesday at 8:30 am. 


Valentine's Day: This Friday is Valentine's day. Don’t forget to buy your Valentines gram during lunch on the 11th, 12, or 13th. NO BALLOONS OR LARGE GIFTS WILL BE ALLOWED ON CAMPUS.

College & Career Week

Valentines Grams will be sold during lunch on Feb. 4, 11, 12, & 13 by Leadership .  They are $1 per gram and will be delivered on Valentines Day. 

Kona Ice -- Kona Ice will be here during all lunches this Friday.  Please remember to bring $3.00 to purchase one and enjoy a sweet treat. 

Active Shooter Drill today

District Science Fair:  Day Creek was represented at all 3 grade levels at the District Science Fair, and TWO of the projects were recognized and will continue to the County of San Bernardino Science Fair!   

Kaavya Kaka "visual vs. auditory memory" received 1st place at the District level for 6th grade.

Anne Lee, Alexa Mousseau, and Sophie Zheng "Birds of a Feather" received 1st place at the District level for 8th grade.  Congratulations -- you will be rewarded with District ribbons and given information for the County Fair.

Black History Month: As we mentioned last week, this week starts Black History Month. In honor of Black History Month, we will have weekly activities in the library that will help us all gain a deeper understanding of important contributions. This Friday, join us in the library for an art project during lunch time.
