C.J.S.F: Applications will be available this FRIDAY. They will be due on March 5th to your Language Arts teacher by 2:30 pm. 

8th Grade: 8th grade points have started. If you did not turn in your points letter, you still need to do this! 

Library Event: 10 African American Inventors who Changed the World- Discuss the inventions and how it currently affects our lives. Join Mrs. Choi on Friday and with your participation, earn some PBIS points for responsibility.

Valentine's Day: This Friday is Valentine's day. Don’t forget to buy your Valentines gram during lunch on the 11th, 12, or 13th. NO BALLOONS OR LARGE GIFTS WILL BE ALLOWED ON CAMPUS.

Valentines Grams will be sold during lunch on Feb. 4, 11, 12, & 13 by Leadership .  They are $1 per gram and will be delivered on Valentines Day.

Active Shooter Drill today

District Science Fair:  Day Creek was represented at all 3 grade levels at the District Science Fair, and TWO of the projects were recognized and will continue to the County of San Bernardino Science Fair!   

Kaavya Kaka "visual vs. auditory memory" received 1st place at the District level for 6th grade.

Anne Lee, Alexa Mousseau, and Sophie Zheng "Birds of a Feather" received 1st place at the District level for 8th grade.  Congratulations -- you will be rewarded with District ribbons and given information for the County Fair.

Black History Month: As we mentioned last week, this week starts Black History Month. In honor of Black History Month, we will have weekly activities in the library that will help us all gain a deeper understanding of important contributions. This Friday, join us in the library for an art project during lunch time.

For students participating in the Day Creek Science FairAll projects are due this Friday!  Please drop projects off in the Science Lab before school or during homeroom.  Make sure your board is labeled with your name, grade level, and homeroom teacher.  Winners from each grade level will be announced next week.

BOB students we want to encourage you to make your  2nd BOB goal of 14 books read and tested.  The deadline will be Friday, January 24, 2020.  Students who make their goal will be invited to the Waffle and Fruit BOB Luncheon in the library on January 31, 2020. 1/13/2020 -  1/17/2020

#icanhelp: We are hosting our annual #icanhelp assembly during school and a parent presentation in our MPR at 6:00 pm. 


Tryouts for the Color Rally Talent Squad:  We are looking for a "Dance Squad" and a Crazy Rocking group who can lip sync.  If you are looking to perform and impress the crowds, we want you to try-out. We also would like a "teacher/admin  group" to Battle either with a dance or a lip sync. 

We will start this madness the first week after Winter break.  Hopefully this will give you some time to get your music and dance moves on.

Science Fair: The Day Creek Science Fair is coming up at the end of this month!  Have your display boards and journals ready by Friday, Jan. 24th.  We hope to see some awesome science projects and engineering designs from our future scientists!

Winter Band Concert:  This Wednesday night from 7 - 8pm, the DCIS bands will be performing in the Los Osos High auditorium.  We would love to see other students, who are not band members in attendance showing their support.  


Drama Team: Drama team will have a fundraiser on Monday and Tuesday night at Barnes & Noble.  Please stop by Barnes & Noble to support the play team members.


Toy Drive:  Please remember to bring in any unwrapped new toys or sports equipment for kids your age and below so that we can spread kindness to those who are not as fortunate as we are.  Over the past 27 years, the Spark of Love Toy Drive has successfully collected and distributed more than 10 million toys.

CNN VIDEO ANNOUNCEMENTS


PE: It's getting close to that time of year...Survivor Ball is just around the corner.  There will be two days, yes you heard that right...2 DAYS of Survivor Ball. In order to get ready for this, we are going to have 5 different Charities that you can donate your funds.  We also will be selling ACTIVE socks on Thursday December 5th. Every pair of socks that we sell, a $1 will be donated to one of the 5 Charities below:

 

1.  ASPC is an organization to help animals and give them a 2nd chance at life.

2.  American Heart Association

3. National Breast Cancer Foundation

4.  Childhood Leukemia Foundation

5.  American Lung Association

 

Our Survivor Ball is to help raise funds for those in need.  Everyone who signs up for a team will be donating their $5 to show support and love to the above Charity.

7th Grade Field Trip: This Friday leaving promptly at 8:15. Make sure you’re here on time! 


Spark of Love Toy Drive:  Our F.O.R.T. is proud to share that we will be participating in the Spark of Love Toy Drive this year. Spread holiday cheer to our community by donating a new, unwrapped toy to your homeroom class box. The toys will be collected every Friday. The homeroom who donates the most toys will be rewarded with a small treat to show our appreciation.
